Fifty youngsters aged 7-13 years from Dawlish and surrounding areas enjoyed a two-day ‘Football in the Community’ course at Dawlish Community College during the Easter Holidays. The course consisted of structured coaching sessions together with ‘fun orientated competitions’ and small sided games.
‘Football in the Community’ Officer and First team player Adam Shearer headed the course. Other UEFA qualified coaches for the course included Dawlish Town players Lee Fenner and Marcus Pritchard, who also coaches the Ladies team and Newton Spurs player Tom Chisholm.
Shearer commented ‘ It was really pleasing to work with such an enthusiastic bunch of players. We have also been particularly pleased with the number of youngsters that are coming to watch Dawlish Town games this season, especially as we are going so well and pushing for promotion. We have worked really hard to promote the Club this season and are delighted with the response we have had’
Shearer was also quick to heap praise on local sponsors ‘Peppers School of Motoring’ Peppers have been the main sponsors for all areas of the club this season but always show a particular interest in the ‘Community Programme’ that we deliver. We are really grateful for their support.
All of the players on the course received Match Tickets and certificates. There were also trophies, medals and prizes for competition winners.
